The rules of "Casual Dress"

At the tender age of sixteen, the Refashionista was heard to state, "Always dress well because you never know who you might meet." These words till hold true today. There is nothing wrong with dressing in casual clothes but when one leaves the house, even to get the newspaper, it is important to remember that someone you care to impress may just wander by. It is therefore important to remember the rules of casual dress. Here are some tips and scenarios to consider before leaving home.

1) The bad hair day:
You roll out of bed with only a few moments to spare before you must run out of the house... Keep a great, stylin' hat handy. Ladies, the right headband or scarf may also do the trick. Really short hair can get away with the purposefully messy look if you use the right product. Long hair can be pulled back but may need to be accessorized with a headband, clips or a scarf. Even if you are just running out for the newspaper, give your hair some thought. There is always the option of pulling a hood gracefully over your head to make it look purposeful. Why bother? What if Barrack Obama just happens to be in the neighborhood (LOL)?

2) The sick or tired day:
You just can't manage more than sweats. Ok, that's acceptable but they should be clean, pressed and well-fitted. Sweats can be super-cute when done right. Match the shoes with the outfit. Avoid Crocs and Birkenstocks at all costs unless they are "cool." Also, avoid clothes with stains or holes unless you are painting, cleaning or doing yard work.

3) The importance of shoes and accessories:
Make sure your shoes and accessories match with the outfit, even if you are going casual. Think about color and style as you choose your shoes and accessories. Make sure the quality of your shoes and accessories also match your outfit.

Go bravely into the world of casual dress but please do so with these three tips in mind. Until next time: happy dressing...

Hello,

Please could you go and visit The Wheel of Fortuna and leave a supportive message for Steve.

His partner BobRobert is in the local hospice and is not expected to live much longer.

It is not so long since his diagnosis which makes it all even more sad.

Thanks for your support.

Love,
Herrad
