Time challenges of a refashionista

Clearly, this project has died on the vine as of late. Never fear, the refashionista will be back with new designs between now and '09. There is a dress in the works and some fine day it will be posted. Several items have been promised or donated to Denver Refashionista recently and these should show up as refashion projects in '09.

Pink shirt makeover

I just refashioned and embroidered this shirt. I think I'll wear it ASAP:)

Hoodie Refashion

Embroidery work and design on hoodie completed by Denver Refahionista in August '08. Plain hoodie purchased at The GAP in 2006.

My first dress and purse

To create the dress and purse I took the nightgown pictured and cut it up. I sewed the top of the nightgown onto an old, black skirt to create the dress. I used some of the nightgown material and part of an old feather boa to fashion the purse.

Gifts

I wanted to create something recycled and refashioned for my best friend's birthday so I embroidered on the tank pictured and gifted her a bracelet that has had several owners in the past. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as she enjoyed the gifts.

Refashionista's Guide to Yard Sales

It is very important that every fashion whore find the best bargain possible whiloe respecting the environment. In an effort to embrace this philosophy I have been going yard saling wtih my sister Che. She is the real expert on yard sales, Craig's List, Freecycle and all matters of recycled goods.
Here is what I have learned so far:
1) Negotiate
2) Start Early
3) Designer labels can be purchased for less than $10.00
4) Many items are basically new
5) Many items will not need refashioning or will need minimal work
6)If it is a good bargain don't worry that you can't try it on, if it doesn't fit, gift it.
7) Yard Sales are cheap fun entertainment.

Details for items refashioned on 5/17/08

1) Jeans from San Francisco thrift store cut off by "Denver Refashionista",top is a knit scarf from yard sale refashioned into tube top with lavender belt from "Aeropostal", Shoes from "Off Broadway Shoes."

2) Beatles T-shirt from yard sale paired with skirt from "Buffalo Exchange", armband is 2004 "New Voter's Project", shoes by "Steve and Barry's", earrings from "Pandora's" and makeup by "Clinique" (not tested on animals).

3) Shoes from "Buffalo Exchange", top is a knit shawl from a yardsale refashioned 5/17/08 by "Denver Refashionista", cutoffs were "Tilt" pants cut off by "Denver Refashionista", necklace and earrings were a gift from "Macy's."
